Custom Insulation Systems

Electroweave specializes in the manufacture of woven cables utilizing custom insulation systems. Offering complete re¬search and design engineering services, our production ver-satility allows electro- optical, mechanical and pneumatic components to be coupled with many insulation types such as PVC, Teflon; Tefzel; Halar Kapton ® polyethylene, silicone rubbers, nylon and others. Typically, our products are used in computer and peripheral equipment, in the consumer markets, military applications, electronic banking, point of sale, test and measurement, medical/analytical equipment and local area networks. Our woven cables are manufactured in accordance with UL/CSA, military and applicable customer specifications. (*Teflon, Tefzel and Kapton are registered trademarks of E.I. duPont de Nemours. FOLDABLE CABLE

  • Woven fold lines or hinges are incorporated in the design, enabling layering of the cable, thus decreasing overall width.
  • May be prefolded with accordian folds designed to maintain connections between drawers and panels.

POWER

  • Flexible flat profiles.
  • Eliminates bundling.
  • Superior heat dissipation—enables use of smaller gauges—resultant space, weight and cost savings.

 

CONTROLLED IMPEDANCE

  • Maintains controlled impedance to customer specifications within 10% tolerance.
  • May be folded, rolled, twisted, stacked or tied into knots without delamination and still maintain signal transmission in acceptable range.
  • Designed to minimize crosstalk.
  • Economically desirable, replaces laminated flexible circuitry and eliminates many extruded transmission cables resulting in improved efficiency and reliability.

Flexible Flat Profiles and Controlled Geometric Design

Inherent in the design of Electroweave's woven cables are features including flexible flat profiles and controlled geometric design. Precisely engineered, woven cable offers increased flex life as binding threads slide over cable com-ponents. In addition, our woven cable may be designed to include a complete variety of component types and sizes. Products may also be manufactured in multiple layers, with fold and strip lines and with special weaves custom designed for particular needs.

TWILL WEAVE

  • Construction allows most rapid end preparation.
  • Trimming and unnecessary handling eliminated.
  • Eliminates parallel fibers.
  • Recommended for production line applications.
  • Provides minimum cable width.

TWISTED PAIRS OR TRIADS

  • Reduced crosstalk.
  • Alternative to coaxial constructions in certain applications.
  • Features custom color codes and ease of conductor exposure.

MULTI-LAYER

  • Cables fabricated in multiple layers when spacing between connector terminals is closer than the diameter of the wire or where a fold is not practical.
  • Tubular multi-layer weaves maximize cable flexibility.

Additional features offered by our woven cables include: rapid end preparation and exposure without damage to component insulation; built in strain relief; minimum cross sections; excellent heat dissipation and multiple termination options. Electroweave's woven cables and assemblies maximize the ease of assembly to every application because of optimal packaging characteristics which, in turn, result in reduced installation costs.

  • High speed signal transmission cable utilizing virtually any type of coaxial cable construction may be fabricated into a woven, flat, flexible cable.
  • Multiple insulation types.

  • Manufactured for specific and particular applications, cables may consist of an elaborate mix of styles, insulation types, and gauges.
  • Cables typically minimize profile and maximize flexibility characteristics. Used where space is at a premium.
